Ladies of the Nite
Friendship Circle

I joined the [Beach Cities Quilt Guild] - Ladies of the Nite - Friendship Circle in July of 1999... In May of 2000 they went inactive and we are still trying to generate some interest after the holiday seasons...

At the time of joining, Carole Noyes was in charge of Beach Cities Quilting Guild Membership. She was the first lady I met in my new Guild. She is enthusiastic and her home is filled with the most beautiful quilts you can imagine. The colors are bright and vivid, and scream to be touched...

While active, our Friendship circle was very wonderful, especially being a beginner to quilting. I was doubly blessed, because the ladies were friendly and helpful, on top of being exceptionally creative!!! The beautiful quilts I have seen during our show and tell's, make my fingers itch, wanting to design quilts even HALF as good as theirs. They encouraged growth and creativity, and even when the piece wasn't just quite right, they pointed out all the things I did right and then give me ideas and techniques to help try on the next project. And isn't there always a next project?

While our Friendship circle was relatively new, the quilters formed bonds and found other mutual interests, despite our diverse backgrounds and quilting experience levels. Between July 1999 and May 2000, we did two big projects. One was a Redwork Quilt, which was hand embroidery, and hand quilting... We donated it to BCQG for our Christmas auction 2000 as a fund raiser, and it fetched $180. To view it, [Click here] . The second quilt, was a cow quilt and was a fund raiser for the music department back in Iowa... Jan Borgikes, who asked for our help on that one, reported back that it raised $1800.00. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of that one...

Unfortunately, we have all gone our separate ways now, we see each other at guild and the shows, but no longer are meeting as a group... However, I did join at new friendship group, and we are at: Ladies of the Nite - One piece at a time.
