BCQG Presidents Quilt 2000
In 2000, our president, [Jan Hirth] ,
picked SEWING ROON as the theme. For those who participated, we made a 4 1/2 in wide X a 4 1/2 in high block
(4 X 4 inches finished) and a 6 1/2 in wide X 2 1/2 inch high (6 X 2 inches finished) name tag. After quilting it all
together, it became an original SEWING ROOM quilt by the Beach Cities Quilting Guild.
What a challenge, as I don't have a sewing room, mine is multi-purpose!!! But when I think of sewing, what comes to
mind is how much fun my cats have! This year, I didn't have far to go, dug through my stash, and came up with some great
fabric.
Then, I had to figure out if I wanted to piece this material or applique. Well, that was an easy choice. I appliqued the
two pieces to the block using silk thread. It only took a bit of material, and it was done. Standing back and looking at
the finished product, I thought: WOW, another MAK ORIGINAL - It isn't a fluke, I did it twice!... Yes, I still am excited,
even if I am past beginner status. And I finished 4 of my UFOs, but managed to double the amount of works in progress at
in various stages. So, here is another of my ONE block extraordinaries, and smile if you must. But I am learning and
having fun... I am sorry but there is no picture of the finished quilt yet, but it is wonderful.
