
Military records for federal battles are usually kept >in the national headquarters of
each military branch or at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. However, if a
person (including anyone under 18 or a woman) were involved in a state or territorial
battle, the records might be held elsewhere.

These facilities usually require that you complete a
form;
replies can take anywhere from four to 12 weeks.
