Current records are maintained by the administrative personnel in Washington DC. These records are kept for a few years, upon termination, regardless of retirement, etc... (The clerk could not define what a few years was, but use an average 2-3 years as a rule, since military are required to maintain all records for a minimum of two years and a maximum of three...)
The address for current records is: US Secret Service 1800 G Street NW Room 901 Washington, DC 20023 This address NORMALLY does not give out any information, as it is too recent. After the appropriate amount of time, the records are transferred to: National Personnel Record Center Civilian Personnel Record 111 Winnebago Street St Louis, MO 63118
I suspect there is a form you must fill out, however, I would try a written
letter, briefly stating the nature of your request. Include his/her SSN, and
his/her death date, and where buried, if possible. State that this is for
genealogical purposes...
Another lead is the Retired Agents Association, (703) 256-0188. You might
want to call and ask if they have a newsletter and how much it would cost to
post an inquiiry in it. Many organizations for retirees have a "Did you
know so-and-so, please write..."...
