Wood County is centrally located in the state of Wisconsin. It's neighbors are

[Portage] to the east,
both [Adams] and
[Juneau] to the south,

The county seat is Wisconsin Rapids, in the town of Grand Rapids. The county was formed
March 7, 1856 from Portage County. The earliest registration dates are Birth 1871, Marriage 1844,
and Death 1872.
