Infant School Registers
1892 – 1906, 1906 – 1922 and 1922 – 1930

There are 3 registers 1892 – 1906, 1906 – 1922 and 1922 – 1930 The School Registers have been digitally scanned to produce an image, in a pdf format, which can be read by most versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader (Version 5 and later). Acrobat 6 is included on the CD should you require it. Some of the indexes were found to be very hard to read and incomplete and names that are in the register were not in the original index, so an index has been produced from the actual register for your convenience. The Index contains the child’s Surname, Forename, date of admission into the school and a number (The admission number). All you have to do is find the name you are looking for, make a note of the admission number, and scroll through the register until you find it.

What’s in the Register
There is a wealth of information which is rarely found in Family History documentation. Admission Number, Date of Admission (day, month, year) , Surname, Christian Name, Address, Date of Birth (day, month, year) , How date has been certified, School last attended, Class or Standard at admission, Date of withdrawal from school, Cause of withdrawal, Class or standard at Withdrawal, Parents Name, Occupation.

This CD is a digitised version of the Electoral Register which has been OCR’d and is searchable within the limitations of the OCR’ing. – you sometime can get spurious results from a search query – eg WILLIAMS you could get VILLIAMS as well. The CD can, of course, be viewed normally by scrolling the pages – again this is a rare acquisition

Merthyr Tydfil Wards.

The copy of the 1925 Spring Register of Electors was obtained from Merthyr Tydfil Library and scanned at Aberdare Library. Over 700 scanned pages which have been book-marked by voting ward; and OCR’d so that you can search. (The search facility is not 100% accurate, in some cases leaving a lot to be desired, due to the age and condition of the original) or you can scroll through as you would a book.
