Carrie A. Weese
Carrie Adeline Shaw Weese, 95, a former resident of Warren, Ohio, the Elkins Manor and more recently a resident of Moore Street in Elkins, departed this life Monday evening, Dec. 19, 2005, at her home. She had been in declining health.
She was born Friday, Feb. 18, 1910, at Belington, a daughter of the late Grant Shaw and Nancy Bonner Shaw. She was raised by Lemuel and Aminda Poling.
On Dec. 23, 1932, at the Woodford Memorial United Church in Elkins, she was married to Chester Weese Sr., who preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter-in-law, Okareta “Rita” Weese-Blake of Linden, Va.; three granddaughters, Joanie Sullins of Berkeley Springs, Brenda Alvarado of Elkins and Kareta “Kitty” Weese of CoCo Beach, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were one son, Chester Weese Jr., four brothers and three sisters.
Carrie was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1932, had worked as a clerk for the G.C. Murphy Co., was a member of the Elkins-Randolph County Senior Center, where she was a member of the Melody Chorus, the Delphia Rebekah Lodge 62 and was the 1985 Belle of Randolph County. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m Tuesday, Dec. 27. The Rev. Walter H. Blough will officiate and interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins. Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Carrie Adeline Shaw Weese.
