Mrs. Kathryn “Katie” Guye, 58, of 1606 Lavalette Avenue, Elkins, died at 12:45 a.m. today in the Davis Memorial Hospital. Death was attributed to cancer.
She was born on June 24, 1922 in Ellamore, a daughter of Birdie Skidmore Kittle who survives in Elkins and the late Henry Clay Kittle.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Verna Carpenter and Mrs. Virginia Skidmore, both of Elkins; one brother, Howard Kittle of Elkins who is a former band director of the Elkins Junior High School band; and several nieces and nephews.
One brother, Denzil Kittle, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Guye had worked for the Davis Memorial Hospital and the Davis Memorial Associates for 34 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkins, a past matron of the Randolph Chapter No. 74 Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Post Matrons Club.
Friends will be received after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the F. E. Runner Funeral Home in Elkins.
Services will be held at 7
p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel with the Reverends Cyril Johnson
and Glenn R. Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at the
Mt. State Memorial Gardens. The Randolph Chapter Number 74 of the
O.E.S. will hold ritualistic services at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral
