Berkeley County, West Virginia Biography of E.E. CHURCH

         E.E. Church was born at Rutan, Green County, Pennsylvania, October 19, 1897, the son of James and Jennie (Riley) Church. He was a graduate of Center Township High School, class of 1914; Waynesburg College, Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, with an A.B. degree; and West Virginia University, class of 1926.

         He was a teacher and principal of Claysville School, 1919, and taught social studies in the Fairmont High School. He moved to Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia, in 1923, to accept a position as principal of Martinsburg High School. He was the president of the Secondary School Principals Association of West Virginia, 1926-27, and member of the Presbyterian Church of Martinsburg. He taught in Shepherd College State Normal School summer school and did Teachers’ Institute Work throughout the state.
