Berkeley County West Virginia Biography of George H. COACHMAN


         George H. COACHMAN was a son of Michael and Mary (Small) Coachman, all from Berkeley County. His parents were both deceased by 1884.

         In Berkeley County, he and Sarah M. Gwilliams, daughter of Henry and Susan (Staley) Gwilliams, were married in Berkeley County where she was born. By 1884, her mother was deceased.

         Mr. Coachman’s business was that of contractor and builder and his post office address was Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia. In addition, he served the public in a number of positions, including one year as councilman, one year as corporation sergeant, two years as inspector of elections, and a year as a member of the board of education.
