Berkeley County West Virginia Biography of Charles W. FOLTZ


         Charles W. FOLTZ was born November May 2, 1850, in Hampshire County, West Virginia, a son of Levi and Matilda (Whittington) Foltz. When he was 17, Charles Foltz went to Ohio as a laborer. During his spare time, he studied and, after attending two session at Xenia F. College, was qualified to teach a district school. He returned to Hampshire County to teach and then settled in Berkeley County, Falling Waters district, in November 1874, where he continued his teaching and was a merchant.

         On November 4, 1874, Charles Foltz and Agnes More, daughter of Ulton and Elizabeth (Myres) More, were married in Berkeley County. Agnesí parents had been living in Washington County, Maryland; her father was deceased by 1884. Charles W. and Agnes Foltz had two daughters, Blanche Foltz and Nellie Foltz.
