Berkeley County West Virginia Biography of William RIPPLE


         William RIPPLE was born in Jefferson County, Virginia, April 9, 1815, son of John and Mary (Herbert) Ripple. His father died in that county in 1815 and his mother accompanied William to Berkeley County in March 1827.

         On August 9, 1842, in Greencastle, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, William Ripple and Ellender Williams, born in Washington County, Maryland, August 9, 1816, were married. Her parents were Hilary and Sarah (Herbert) Williams, both deceased by 1884. William and Ellender Williams had nine children: John T. Ripple, March 18, 1843-?; Anna E. Ripple, May 9, 1844-?; Rebecca Ripple, August 21, 1845-?; William Ripple, May 17, 1847-July 10, 1848; Mary E. Ripple, June 12, 1848-?; Irwin Ripple, August 15, 1849-January 7, 1850; Margaret J. Ripple, May 10, 1851-?; James H. Ripple, November 8, 1853-?; and Josiah Ripple, February 2, 1859-?. Ellender Ripple died May 5, 1879.

         Mr. Ripple was elected justice of the peace in the Falling Waters district in 1865 and served four years. He was a farmer in Falling Waters, Berkeley County, West Virginia.
