Berkeley County, West Virginia Biography of William Henry SCHLINKMAN


         William Henry SCHLINKMAN, son of Herman and Mary (Nott) Schlinkman, was born in Baltimore, Maryland, May 17, 1844, and moved to Martinsburg, Berkeley County, in 1879. William Henry’s father died in Baltimore on December 10, 1880, and his mother in the same city in 1881. They raised a family of 12 children. William Henry’s father was born in Germany and emigrated to American about 1830, settling in Baltimore, where he worked as a coachmaker, a trade his son followed, only in the city of Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia.

         On October 30, 1870, W.H. Schlinkman and Sarah Rebecca Chambers, daughter of John M. and Emily (Reed) Chambers who was born in Martinsburg, West Virginia, on June 22, 1850, were married. Her mother was deceased as of 1884. The children born to the Schlinkmans were: John H. Schlinkman, August 30, 1871-?; Emily C. Schlinkman, October 17, 1873-?; Minnie B. Schlinkman, July 2, 1876-?; Meta V. Schlinkman, November 9, 1878-?; and William B. Schlinkman, June 15, 1881-?.
