Berkeley County West Virginia Biography of James B. SMALL

         James B. SMALL was born near Martinsburg in Berkeley County, October 13, 1836, a son of Henry C. and Eliza (Seibert) Small. His father died in 1882, at the age of 76, and his mother was still alive in 1884.

         On February 16, 1865, James B. Small and Mary F. Chenoweth, who was born in the Arden district, Berkeley County on November 25, 1840, were married. Her parents were James W. and Annie B. (Walker) Chenoweth; her mother died in 1862 at the age of 45. Her only brother, George C. Chenoweth, served four years in the Confederate army and was wounded twice during the Civil war. He was a farmer.

         James B. and Mary F. Small had two children, Minnie B. Small, December 9, 1871-?; and Nancy C. Small, October 1, 1876. James B. was a farmer in the Hedgesville district, with a mailing address of Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia.
