Berkeley County West Virginia Biography of Michael STUCKEY


         Michael STUCKEY, son of John and Barbara (Kerns) Stuckey, was born in Berkeley County, West Virginia on April 24, 1834. Mr. Stuckeyís grandparents came from Pennsylvania to Berkeley County about 1750, settling in Back Creek Valley, where John Stuckey, Michaelís father, was born January 28, 1791. He married Michaelís mother in May 1818; she was born March 1797. They had 10 children. John Stuckey died in 1839, Barbara in 1876.

         In Frederick County, Virginia, on March 12, 1867, Michael Stuckey married Rebecca Hite, born in Hampshire County, West Virginia, December 19, 1830, the daughter of Isaac and Mary A. (Turner) Hite. Her father (1802-1859) in Shenandoah County and her mother was born 1805 in Frederick County, both in Virginia.

         Children born to Michael and Rebecca Stuckey were: Charles N. Stuckey, June 24, 1868-?; and James M. Stuckey, September 24, 1869-?.

         Michael Stuckey was a farmer in the Hedgesville district, Jones Springs, Berkeley County, West Virginia.
