Berkeley County, West Virginia Biography of Andrew J. THOMAS


         Andrew J. THOMAS was born in Berkeley County, West Virginia, on June 2, 1819. He was married in that county on February 18, 1863 to Nanny H. Seibert, daughter of David and Eliza (Kearney) Seibert, residents of that county. Nanny Seibert was born in that county October 7, 1838. Andrew and Nanny Thomas had three adopted children: George E. Thomas, March 23, 1861-?; William P. Thomas, September 1865; and Berkeley R. Seibert, February 1866-?.

         James Thomas, one of Andrew Thomas’ brothers, and Joseph Seibert, a brother of Mrs. Thomas, were soldiers in the Civil war, both serving in the Confederate army.

         Andrew Thomas was a farmer in the Opequon district, with a mailing address of Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia.
