| CAPT. JAS J. KUHN |
| DIES AT HINTON |
SUMMONS OF DEATH. Nearly half Century.--Death Fol- lowed an Operation. After lingering between life and death for several weeks, following an operation, Capt. James I. Kuhn, one of the pioneer citizens of Cabell county, died Saturday night at the Hinton hospital. A message bearing the news of the death of Captain Kuhn was received early this morning by H. C. Harvey from a brother of the decedent who was at the bedside when the end came. The deceased man had resided in Barboursville since the early seventies when he, as the representative of a large land company, located in the ex-county seat and had lived there since. He was married shortly after his locating in Cabell county to Miss Tierman of Wayne county, who is his sole survivor. He was about sixty-eight years of age at the time of his death. Several weeks ago, he left his home at Barboursville and went to Pence Springs to spend several weeks. While at the Springs, he was taken quite ill and started to return to his home at Barboursville. While on the train his condition became so serious that he had to be taken off at Hinton, where he was removed to a hospital. An operation was the only hope for his recovery, but since undergoing the ordeal, he gradually failed until death relieved him of his suffering. The body will be brought here Sunday evening and will be taken to his old home at Wellsburg, W. Va., where the interment will be made. The deceased man was the possessor of valuable real estate and coal lands and was quite wealthy. He has for many years been prominent in the Republican politics of the county and at the time of his death was a member of the Cabell county Republican executive committee.
