WILLIAM BARTLETT PRIDDY
Funeral services for William Bartlett Priddy, 83 years old, and a veteran of the Civil war, who died Friday morning at 7:10 o'clock, at Ravenswood, were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Methodist Episcopal church, south, at Ravenswood, with Rev. M. E. Keenan, presiding. Services were in charge of the Masonic lodge, which was assisted by the Legionaires. Burial was in the Ravenswood cemetery. Mr. Priddy had been ill for seven weeks prior to his death.
He was born in Jackson county, October 15, 1844. His home was in and around Ravenswood for the greater part of his life. He was a member of the G. A. R., in addition to being a Mason.
Mr. Priddy enlisted in the Union army at the outbreak of the Civil war, at the age of 17, walking from Ravenswood to Point Pleasant and back before telling his family that he was going to war. For four years he was a member of the Fourth West Virginia infantry, and for a short time was in the cavalry.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nancy C. Priddy; two sons, W. E. Priddy, of Huntington, and J. M. Priddy, of Johnson City, Tenn.; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Campbell, dren, among whom are M. E. Priddy, Jr., H. M. Priddy and Mrs. Essie L. Humphreys, all of Huntington.
