Rodney Ranson, Killed near Cambodia
Salt Rock GI Dies 48 Hours After Birthday
Pfs. Rodney K. Ranson of Salt Rock, who was killed in action
last Thursday in Vietnam marked his 21st birthday only two days
earlier the family reported Tuesday. The 1965 Barboursville High
School graduate had been in Vietnam four months with the 7th
Cavalry Regiment of the 1st Air Cavalry Division and was based
in Tay Ninh Province near the Cambodian border.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. ___ Ranson of Barboursville,
the soldier attended Marshall University before entering the
Army last February.
Surviving in addition to the parents are the widow, the former
Linda Sexton of Salt Rock, whom he married in February; a
sister, Mrs. W. Boyes of Lavalette and two brothers, Edward
Eugene Ranson of Huntington and Manford Phillip Ranson of
The body will be sent to Chapman's Mortuary.
