MASTERSON, J. R.
Death of J. R. Masterson
On last Friday, January 28, 1898, at 11 o'clock a. m., J. R. Masterson, one of the representative citizens of Union District, departed this life after a long, painful illness.  Mr. Masterson came from Ohio a few years ago, as a teacher in the common schools, in which vocation he was far more than ordinarily successful.  He married a daughter of J. H. Bryan, of Swann P. O., one of Cabell county's substantial citizens.
Deceased was about 32 years of age and leaves a wife and two small children, besides a host of friends to mourn his departure.
The bereaved family have our sincere sympathies. -The Cabell Record, Milton, W. Va., Thursday, February 3, 1898, pg. 4
