Frye Detail ListLatitude: N 38° 21.587 From Barboursville, WV in Cabell County take McComas Rd. until you get to
Roach. Cross the bridge and go about 02. of a mile. It is on the Right
hand ----------------------------------------------------------------------- By George Swann According to the W.P.A. reading in April 1938, there were two markers in the cemetery. W.P.A. also noted that there were 4 unmarked graves. It is worth noting that the W.P.A. readings are not completely accurate. They frequently overlooked marked graves and only read what was easy to reach and didn't venture into the "bush" looking for markers. Sometime prior to 1938, an unknown landowner in the Roach Community removed most of the long, flat markers from the cemetery to make a walkway to his house. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The following list was compiled by actual reading of the tombstones. All the information, excluding annotation, is written on the tombstone. Submitted by Barry Huffstutler Read June 30 2004. ----------------------- Updated December 22, 2007

ANDREW SUPPLEE HATFIELD Andrew Hatfield bought 578 acres at Roach in 1802. It included all of the area that later became known as "Hinchman Bend". Some descendants say he & Christina are buried in this cemetery. Other have said they are buried down the hill closer to the river and routine flooding eventually erased any trace of the spot. The D.A.R. later wanted to place a marker on Andrew's grave to honor his revolutionary war service. Not knowing his exact place of burial, they placed the marker for him in the Adam Hatfield Cemetery up the road at Inez. --------------------
CHRISTINA (SNIDOW) HATFIELD Note: There is one (1) grave marked with a Field Stone.
