Chapter Activities

Our chapter stays busy throughout the year with various activities and projects to support the local area as well as the National Society:

  • We participate in Morgantown's 4th of July parade

  • We participate in Morgantown's Greatest Garage Sale every August, which is a fundraiser for the United Way.  We use the occasion not only as a fundraiser for our chapter, but also to meet and talk to those attending who may be interested in DAR membership.

  • We have endowed a scholarship at West Virginia University for students who are descendants of West Virginia DAR members or who are majoring in History

  • We obtain signed proclamations for Constitution Week and participate in Bells Across America on September 17, Constitution Day

  • We collect Campbell's Soup labels and Box Tops for Education to support DAR Schools

  • We collect cancelled stamps for the veterans' program "Stamps for the Wounded"

  • We participate in Morgantown's Veteran's Day parade and courthouse ceremony

  • We provide comfort items for patients at the Clarksburg Veterans Hospital at Christmas

  • We donate books to the DAR Library and to the Morgantown Public Library

  • We support the DAR's "Project Patriot" through donations and cards

  • We provide genealogy workshops at the Morgantown Public Library

  • We have planted cherry trees at Morgantown's Riverfront Park in honor of George Washington

  • Members fly the American Flag for all national holidays
