Isham Bailey was born c1754 in Albemarle County, Virginia to Robertson Bailey. He came to Kanawha County, Virginia around 1805 with his wife Martha, his Nephew Henry Bailey born c1775 and wife Judith Thomas, and his 1st cousin William Bailey born c1753 and wife Sarah Sprouse. Isham was a farmer and lived his whole life on a portion of land that he received for his services in the Revolutionary War, now known as Poca River Road. He and his wife had nine known children: Pleasant Bailey born c1775 married Judah (?), Elizabeth Bailey born c1782 married Mack Lively, Hezekiah Bailey born c1788 married Susan Allen, Mary Bailey born c1780 married William Lanham, Winona Bailey born c1786 married William Langford, Martha Bailey born c1800 married Uriah Parish, Sarah Bailey born c1805 married James Hensley, Isham Bailey born c1792 married Frances (?), and James Bailey born c1795 married Mary Lanham. Isham died on January 04, 1835 in Kanawha County, Virginia and his children applied for his pension.
