William Kiev Bailey was born April 04, 1810 in Albemarle County, Virginia to William Bailey and Sarah Sprouse. He came to Kanawha County Virginia with his family first in 1796 and then again about 1818 to settle land that his father had received for his services in the Revolutionary War. Sometime during the early 1800's the family settled on both sides of what is now known as Clay Bank Branch Road in Cross Lanes, West Virginia, where descendants of which still live today. On January 15, 1834 William Married his cousin Mildred Bailey and had a large family. The children of William and Mildred were: Benjamin Bailey born 1836, Andrew Jackson born 1837 married Martha Jane Harris the daughter of Gideon Harris and Mahala Lanham, Nancy J. Bailey born 1840, Hezekiah Bailey born 1842 married Lucinda Harris the daughter of Gideon Harris and Mahala Lanham, Mary L. Bailey born 1847, Robert Lee Bailey marries Louisa Slater, William P. Bailey born 1851 married Martha Saunders daughter of Thomas and Mary Saunders. William Kiev Bailey died December 28, 1886 at the home of his son Andrew Jackson Bailey.
