Also, where and how would I obtain a death certificate if they did thing s like that back then? I am searching for information about the parents of a Thompson chandler, b. I'm searching for Margaret Moore who married James Powers (Kelley' Creek) ca 1815. They had children: Richard, David Whitehead, Granville and Martha. Margaret died ca 1826 and James married Frances Blankenship soon afterwards. I have my great great grandfather James finally in Putnam Cty. owning land and that is where he died. Margaret is the mystery but we are "thinking" her parents were John and Nancy /Agnes Moore but haven't been able to document this 6:55 AM 02/04/2000

Skip and Leslie Walton

Elisha WALTON was born 1825 in "VA" (before WV split off) and resided in Jackson Co. His wife, Lydia SAYRE, is listed as having been born in Wood Co. I've run into a wall finding his exact birthplace or any reference to his parents. Since Jackson Co. was formed from Kanawha Co. after his birth, I'm hoping I may find some birth record for him in Kanawha Co. Elisha died, 1902 in Jackson Co. Elisha and Lydia had four children, Theadora Carmine, Ida M., Florence R., and Morris Delmore. If the 1870 Jackson Co. census reported his birthplace as VA, would that be present day VA, or could it refer to WV? on 6:17 AM 02/15/2000

Someone must know something about this large family! James R. Smith married Eliza V. Reynolds in Kanawha Co. on 30 Mar 1864. They settled in Marmet, which was known at that time as Brownstown. They had eight children, all born in Marmet. First was Minnie W., born 3 Apr 1866. Minnie was married twice, her first husband was named Able, they might have been married in WV. Her second husband was Thomas Addy, they were married in Minnesota, where she died. The second child was James F., born about 1868. He married a woman named Maggie, whos last name might have been something like Whalen. They may have lived in Huntington. He was a conductor for a railroad that ran through Marmet. He may have been the mayor of either Hinton or Huntington, WV for a time. He died in WV. Third was Bernice B., born about 1870. She married Alex Thackston, who worked for the Railway Express. They may have lived in Huntington. Fourth was Geneva, born 19 Mar 1872. She married Walter Imlah. I don't know where they were married, but they lived in Minnesota, where she died. Fifth was Carrie Fenton, born 29 May 1874. She married Douglas Grim in Minnesota, and died in Iowa. Sixth was Edward or Edwin G., born about 1876. He also came to Minnesota and married a woman there. He probably died in Minnesota too. Seventh was Percy Howe, my grandfather. He was born 17 Apr 1879, came to Minnesota and married Angeline Middaugh. Last was Mable, born after 1880. She married Hugh Curry, who was a riverboat captain. They lived in Charleston. If anyone can tell me about the WV people, I can fill them in on the ones who moved to Minnesota. I have photos of the parents, Minnie and Percy, and I am working on getting photos of Carrie and Geneva. on 6:17 AM 02/15/2000
