Researching the following families and locations from Kanawha County: RIDER, PROCTOR, WILLS, BARKER, SZASZ (SZASZWALENSKI), BOKA, KOZAK,and SCHNEIDER (SNIDER). Histories of Ward, Pond Gap, Cedar Grove, and trying to find out if there was a lumber business of some type in the late 1800's at Big Laurel (near Cedar Grove) at Blue Creek. My ggreatgrandfather, Robert G. Rider, allegedly started a lumber business there or was working for one there? I have two Ward Community Reunion keepsake books that were printed after the 14th and 15th reunions in the 1990's. They are full of early photos of families who lived at Ward and of the community itself. Would be happy to see if your family member is pictured and scan and e-mail it to you if the quality is good enough. I hope to contribute an index of pictured individuals to this site soon. on 5:27 PM 10/27/98
