Dave Copenhaver

Researching passenger lists of the steam packett boats ca. 1900 for Grace Carson Copenhaver who relocated (possibly on the "Kanawha") to Dunlevy PA via Charleston, Morgantown, Pittsburgh on the Monongahela River. Probably had 3 children with here named Eldridge Mansfieds Copenhaver (1887-1932), Hubert L. Copenhaver (b. 1881), and Lawrence W. Copenhaver (1875-1954) or at least Eldridge Mansfields (my grandfather). His father was William "Floyd" Copenhaver who later married Flora Leola Gibson. Their only surviving child is William "Grant" Copenhaver", age-94 of South Charleston. All children were born near Big Chimmney (Elk District) near Coopers Creek and Lick Branch on the Jacob Thomas (1824-1904) farm where there is also located the family cemetery. on 7:51 AM 4/4/99

June Settle

My g-g-grandmother, Almeda FARLEY PENNINGTON, died March 30, 1929. According to her obituary in the March 31 Charleston Gazette, she was a resident of Davis Creek, the funeral was held at her home, and she was then buried in the Davis Creek Cemetery. I have driven up and down Davis Creek, asked people I encountered, and no one knows of any cemetery on Davis Creek (with the exception of French Cemetery at the golf course). Does anyone know where the Davis Creek Cemetery is located, or, if it was moved due to all the construction, where the bodies were reinterred? on 6:24 AM 4/12/99

My 5th generation grandparents were in your county in 1811. They signed a deed selling land that they owned in Tazewell County, VA, and stated that their home was then in Kanawha County. I think Kanawha was still in Virginia at that time. I am trying to find out axactly when they died. Their names were Samuel Munsey and his wife, Agnes. I am trying to prove my descent from them for DAR purposes.
