I am looking for more information on the massacre at Tackett's Fort in 1790. I have a reproduced copy of a newspaper article entitled "TACKET'S FORT: An Historical Fact. It was copied verbatim from the newspaper Cist's Weekly Advertiser, Vol 1, No. 13, Cincinnati, Tuesday, June 15, 1847, Page 1, Cols. 5 and 6. The article mentions Jane McElhaney, whose husband John was killed. She was taken prisoner by the Indians, later escaped and married Charles Alsbury. They are my ancestors. What I really need is to locate a record of Jane's marriage to John McElhaney to verify her maiden name. We believe it was Henry, but would like to locate more conclusive evidence of that assumption.
