Thomas Hannen
I'm looking for information on Wilber H. TURNER and Mae STONE. They had
a daughter born in Kanawha Co. Aug 14,1892. This is all I have. My
question is when did the State of WV start collecting tax either
personal or income tax. I can't find any other information on These
two. If you can help this might not need to be posted. I believe this is

I am seeking information about Samuel Russell. He was born about 1820 and died in 1883. He died in Kanawha County. He was married 2 or possibly 3 times. He married Sirena TURLEY in 1848 in Kanawha Co. Then in 1864 he married NANCY BROWDEN COBB a widow. She was 27 and he was 46. He lists is mother as being ELIZABETH RUSSELL. I need to know who his father was. I also need to know who his siblings were. In 1864 when he married Nancy he said his occupation was a Dr. He lived near the Forks of the Coal River. Story is that Carl was hit by train. Would be interested in complete Obit and story about accident if possible. I also would like information on any family that he may have had. I do not know whether

I am researching the Coleman family from Kanawha County, WV. My mother was Malinda Martha Coleman who married David Ray Stone. Her father was James Coleman who married Mary Elizabeth Ferrell. James was the son of George Washington Coleman, who married Malinda Martha Baker. George was the son of Lindsey Coleman, whose wife may have been Christina Boyd or Lucy Hicks.
I have much information from Lindsey to the present but would like to find out more about Lindsey - from the Kanawha Salines district - and his wife and their ancestors. I am seeking Leonard/Lenny CANTRELL, who probably died between 1908-1910.
I found his widow Bettie (McCLINTOCK) in the 1910 census in Big Sandy Twp,
living next door to a George CANTRELL, who I suspect could be Lenny's
brother. I have poured over the 1880 and 1900 census, but this man has

Allen, Jessie S., William A., and James Jefferson. Would love to locate

I am looking for the parents of Charles John HOLT. He was born in Charleston OR Ripley, West Virginia February 18, 1850. He married Frances Barton Marshall in 1875 (his claim to genealogical fame as she is granddaughter of Chief Justice John Marshall. He moved to Alexandria, Virginia in 1868 to go to (Episcopal) Virginia Theological Seminary there, and may not have returned to West Virginia, as he was a minister in Virginia and in Fordham, New York.

My name is Steve Fisher and I grew up in Putnam County. My great-great
grandfather was Daniel Pleasant Smith, born 1838 - died 1929. His
parents were Bartlett and Nancy Smith. I know they lived in Putnam County also as they are buried in an old cemetary near Hurricane. Since Putnam county wasn't formed until 1848, I haven't found any records of Bartlett and Nancy and thought they might be in Kanawha County as Putnam County was formed from Kanawha. I would greatly appreciate any information concerning Nancy's last name and/or the parents of Bartlett. I have a scrap of paper that lists a "Miss Halpayne" as Bartletts mother but I have never been able to confirm this. Any information you could provide would be much appreciated. I would like who ever posted the marriage of David Osborn and Elizabeth Rucker on 3/5/1855 to e-mail me. I would like to confirm the Osborne spelling. I have the same names in a family bible with Osborne spelled differently but only a 2 week difference in the wedding date with the same first names. Thanks on any help.
