I'm researching Horatio Winsted HUMPHREY "born near the big salt works" in VA on Apr. 17, 1828. I'm told by another researcher that this location could be Saline (now Malden), Kanawha Co., WV (then VA). His six siblings were: Elizabeth, Amanda, Paulina, Francis, Maggie, and Edward. (Parents areunknown.) He married Margaret Ann LYON (b. Nov. 28, 1833 in Hampshire Co. WV) on Dec. 15, 1853, probably in Pike Co. IL. They moved to KS in mid-1800s. I'd appreciate your posting this query. Any help in confirming Horatio's birthplace and parents' identity would be greatly appreciated. Gary D. Kline - GDKskills@AOL.com 3:35 PM 1/11/98

Searching from the ancestry of Squire THOMPSON (1786-1850) who is proven to have resided with his mother, Avirilla (aka Eve) THOMPSON (nee TONEY), in Kanawha Co., VA from at least 1796-1811. Squire THOMPSON'S father is believed to have been William THOMPSON who was listed in the Kanawha Co., VA tax list until 1809 and thereafter replaced either by Squire THOMPSON or Eve THOMPSON, giving rise to speculation that he died c.1809 in Kanawha Co., VA. It is believed that this family, along with several people from the TONEY family came to Kanawha Co., VA from Franklin Co., VA c. 1796. I am searching from proof that William THOMPSON was Squire THOMPSON'S father and proof of his death. I am also hoping to find a THOMPSON bible record which contains vital statistics on Squire THOMPSON and his siblings and ancestors. Robert M. Allen 7:53 AM 1/17/98

I am looking for information about any Buster's that were in Kanawha
county late 1700's and early 1800's. The 1810 census shows there was a
Claudius Buster and a Thos. L. Buster in Kanawha county. The 1860
Kanawha county federal census shows a Thomas J. Buster, age 54. There
is an article in the William and Mary College Quarterly Historical
Magazine (Vol. 15, No. 1, p. 68, July 1906) concerning the Pollard
family, submitted to a newspaper by John Pollard, Sr. in 1870. In it,
he states: "Mary, the oldest daughter, married a man by the name of
Buster and moved to the county of Kanawha; he represented the county in
the Virginia Legislature; they both died in Kanawha, and I know nothing
of their posterity, but suppose they are in that region." Mary Pollard
was his aunt according to facts given in the article. Could one of the
above Busters be the county representative? Thanks Mark Buster Ben Lomond, Ark. 8:09 PM 1/17/98
