I am trying to get information on a Finley family from Upshur County. I have a clue that they were in Kanawha County in 1919 and couldn't find them in Upshur County in the 1920 Census. James Washington Finley married Zella May Kittle in 1911 in Upshur County. They had living children in 1918, still in Upshur County. One of the children was given up for adoption in 1919 in Charleston, Kanawha County. on 6:15 AM 06/28/2000

My ancestor, Mary Jane Alexander, b. abt 1825 (censuses) m. Mordecai Vickers in 1842. On the 1850 Kanawha Co., WV census, Joel and Roxalana (Morris) Alexander's daughter, Catherine (19), was in the Vickers household. This was just before her marriage to Thomas Jefferson Gardner 11 Jul 1850. Catherine & Thomas named a child Mordecai V. and Mary Jane & Mordecai Vickers named a child Catherine. Both couples named a child Cynthia. Additionally, the Vickers named their 1st child, a son, William Morris, which was the name of Roxalana's father. Was Mary Jane (Alexander) Vickers a child of Joel and Roxalana Alexander and sister to Catherine? Or was she a "favorite" cousin to Catherine?on 5:53 PM 06/30/2000
