With only three months and twenty one days of reaching the century mark in life's journey, having a gallant record in the War of the Rebellion and surrounded by sons and daughters, some of whom had passed the three score and ten mark, Cornelius Page, one of the oldest, if not the oldest resident of Kanawha Valley, fell peacefully to sleep at the hour of three yesterday afternoon. Born in Botetourt County, Virginia, early in the 19th century, he has lived to see many changes in the state and nation. Full of reminiscences of the days gone by, it was often his delight to gater around him both young and middle aged, and tell of the events which happened in the days when the country was young. Mr. Page had a wonderful memory for dates, and could call off hand some of the principal battles of the late war. His death was from cancer, and also a general breadkown, owing to his extreme age. He was a member of Blundon Post G.A.R. Capt McIntosh has charg of the arrangements for the funeral, and the pallbearers will be selected from the members of this body. He leaves three daughters; Misses Elizabeth and Francis Page and Mrs. Harriett C. Meadows, and three sons, Charles, J. Madison and John E. Page>
The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 O'Clock from the Bowman Church. Rev. J. J. White, pastor of the church, will officiate and the interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery.

I was called in the evening to preach the funeral of Brother R. W. Proctor, who passed over to the other side to rest with his Lord. He died January 11th in his 66th year. He professed religion almost thirty seven years ago. At the time of his death he was a member of the Hampton Baptist Church. May the Lord care for his family, especially his afflicted wife. T. F. Holt
