Died August 5th, '89, at St. Albans, Mrs. Ellen S. Smith, daughter of Phillip and Ellen S. Dodridge, in the 38th year of her age. Sister Smith gave herself to Jesus in 1875, and was baptized into the fellowship of Old Kanawha Church by Rev. B. Cade, and in 1880 was transferred to Brownstown Church by letter. Sister Smith was for a long time greatly afflicted, but was never known to murmur, and died in the full assurance of faith. I never saw a more triumphant death. She was buried at Paint Creek from the Old Kanawha Church. She leaves a husband, four little daughters and a host of friends to mourn their loss. God be with her surviving friends.
