The Lincoln County Genealogical Society is a historical - genealogical organization founded for the purpose of gathering and preserving the history of Lincoln County, West Virginia, and the family records of its people. The society is registered in the State of West Virginia as a nonprofit organization.
The Society quarterly publishes the Lincoln Lineage consisting of about 35 to 40 pages and free for subscribing members.
Annual dues in the society are $10.00 for single membership, or $15.00 for family membership (same household) per calendar year. Persons subscribing during the year will receive all copies of the Lincoln Lineage for that year.
Meetings are held at 7:00 pm on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, February through November at the Hamlin - Lincoln County Public Library. No regular meetings are held during December and January.
The society welcomes input for publication, family history, ancestor charts, descendant charts, 4/5 generation worksheets, cemetery listings, GEDCOM files, etc. Even if not complete, submit it anyway.
The Lincoln County Genealogical Society welcomes donations of genealogical and historical books and publications that are pertinent to the area and its roots. Those donated to the LCGS library will be reviewed and described in the Lincoln Lineage. Publications donated to the LCGS library are accessible in the Genealogical Research Room of the Hamlin - Lincoln County Public Library.
The LCGS accepts advertising of books, magazines, supplies and services relating to genealogy. Payment must accompany order. Rate is $12.50 per quarter page, $25.00 per half page, or $50.00 per full page. Copy must be received at least ninety days prior to desired publication.
Monetary donations to expand the library, purchase additional equipment, or offset operating costs will be accepted, and greatly appreciated.
