Gillispie V. Nazelrodt, 68
Gillispie Virgil "Pete" Nazelrodt, 68, of Moorefield died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at the home of his daughter, Barbara E. Kimble in Petersburg.
Mr. Nazelrodt was born Jan. 18, 1934, in Landes and was the son of the late Charles Nazelrodt and Demma Ketterman Nazelrodt.
He was employed by Petersburg Blocks for 14 years and retired from Wampler Longacre after 33 years of service. He was a member of Rough Run Church of the Brethren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Lee Whetzel Nazelrodt, on December 19, 1996.
In addition to his daughter, he is survived by another daughter, Susan L. VanMeter of Upper Tract; a sister Mila Mae Whetzel, and a brother, Willard M. Nazelrodt, both of Petersburg; three grandchildren, Tommy Whetzel of Upper Tract, Jeannie Whetzel of Harrisonburg, VA, and Danielle Kimble of Petersburg; one great-grandson, Danny VanMeter of Woodsfield, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Danny Nazelrodt; one brother, Samuel Nazelrodt; and four sisters, Wilda Lantz, Goldie Whetzel, Margie Borror and Rhoda Whetzel.
The Rev. Gregory A. Rotruck conducted the funeral 11 a.m. Friday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial was in the Whetzel family cemetery, Dumpling Run.

Hazel F. Lohr, 88
Mrs. Hazel F. Mitchell Lohr, 88, a resident of the Bridgewater Home since November of 1997, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 7, 2003, at the home.
A daughter of the late G.W. and Ola Hinkle Alexander, she was born on June 29, 1914, in Mozer and lived her early life in Mozer and Kline. She moved to Broadway, VA, in 1952, and later lived in Harrisonburg, VA, prior to moving to Bridgewater, VA, in 1955. Mrs. Lohr had been employed by Shenanadoah Poultry for 18 years prior to her retirement in the 1980s. She was a member of the Mill Creek Church of the Brethren in Mozer.
Her husband, Harry C. Mitchell, preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1972.
She is survived by four children, Orville Mitchell of Dayton, Violet Dorman of Fredericksburg, VA, Edwin Mitchell of Bridgewater, and Lois Batton of Grottoes; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Grace Dunkle of Maryland, Neva Mallow of Florida, and Eva Mae Hatton, California; four brothers, Warnie Alexander and Marvin Alexander, both of Florida, Guy Alexander of California, and Raymond Alexander of Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Foster, Roy, Ernest and Dolan Alexander.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday from the Chapel of the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Moyers officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Lawn Cemetery at Bridgewater, VA.
Ralph Wilson Eye, 85
Ralph Wilson Eye, 85, of Rawley Pike, Hinton, VA, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harissonburg, VA, where he had been a patient for the past two days.
Mr. Eye was born on August 6, 1917, in Pendleton County and was the son of the late Jacob Melvin and Rita Florence Ruddle Eye.
He graduated from Mount Clinton High School in 1934. He worked as a meter reader and installer for VEPCO until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of the Mount Horeb United Methodist Church.
On January 24, 1943, he married the former Ethel Rhodes, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Denny W. Eye, Bridgewater, VA; a daughter, Libby E. Sellers, Linville, VA; a sister, Orva E. Jones, LaVale, MD; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service was held Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. at the Mount Horeb Cemetery, Hinton, VA, with Rev. Bill John officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, 422 Hinton Road, Hinton, VA 22831; the Clover Hill Rescue Squad, c/o Bob Shiflet, 2100 Clover Hill Road, Dayton, VA 22821; or to the charity of one's choice.
Arrangements were by the McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, VA.
