Betty Lee Adamson
Betty Lee Adamson, 80, of Onego died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, in Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, VA.
She was born on Nov. 11, 1929, in Onego and was the daughter of the late Vernon C. Adamson and Pearl (Morral) Adamson.
Mrs. Adamson retired from Hanover Shoe in Franklin in 1996 and was a member of the Onego Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are two sons, Gregory Wayne Adamson and Mark Lane Adamson, both of Dayton, VA; one grandson, Luke Adamson; one daughter-in-law, Danita Adamson of Dayton, VA; four sisters, Lucille Judy of Upper Tract, Phyllis Ruddle of Franklin, Shirley Fields of Dayton, OH, and Sue Adamson of Seneca Rocks; three brothers, Rubert Adamson of Job, John Adamson of Onego and Keith Adamson of Harrisonburg, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Helen Butle; one brother, Joyce Adamson; and a nephew, Jerry Butler, whom she raised.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Onego Church of the Brethren with Pastor Charles "Dusty" Twigg, Evangelist Larry Danner and Pastor William "Buddy" Farris officiating. Interment was in the Waybright Cemetery, Onego.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg.
Shirley Jean (Benson) Nieman
Shirley Jean (Benson) Nieman, 73, of Franklin passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at the Pendleton Manor in Franklin.
Mrs. Nieman was born in Bruceton Mills on March 10, 1936, the daughter of the late George and Ada Hilling Benson.
On Aug. 4, 1952, she married Dale W. Nieman, who survives in Franklin.
She retired as an activities aide from Pendleton Nursing Home, Franklin. She graduated from Bruceton Mills High School in 1953 and was a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Deborah Thompson, and husband, Johnny of Franklin; a son, Gregory Nieman, and wife Laurel of Wellsburg; a brother, Calvin Benson, and wife, Thelma of Bruceton Mills; four grandchildren, Heidi Beth Nieman, Brad Gregory Nieman and wife, Brittany, Heather Lee Woo and husband, Lt. Madison, and Jason Dale Thompson; and two great-grandchildren, Braxton and Breaha.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Harvey, and a sister, Anna Lee.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin, with Rev. Robert Anderson and Pastor Brad Mitchell officiating.
