Eva P. Wimer, 91

Eva P. Wimer, 91, of Franklin, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at the Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin, where she had lived for 10 years.  

Mrs. Wimer was born Dec. 1, 1911, in Ziegler, near Franklin, and was the daughter of the late George Arthur Sponaugle and Meredith Gladys Hartman Sponaugle. 

She attended school on Smith Creek and at Franklin High School.  She moved to Harrisonburg, VA, and was employed at Rockingham Memorial Hospital for a few years.  She lived in Pittsburgh, PA, for six years before returning to Franklin in 1946.

Mrs. Wimer was a homemaker and a member of Smith Creek Church of the Brethren. 

On Jan. 28, 1939, she married Arnold Eldora Wimer, who preceded her in death Oct. 4, 1984. 

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty L. and Glenn Vandevander of Dayton, VA, and Anita P. and Dale Judy of Abingdon, IL; a son and daughter-in-law, Edward A. and Jamey Wimer of Franklin; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Wimer of Franklin; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Wynona E. Sponaugle of Franklin. 

 She was also preceded in death by one son , William Arthur Wimer; two brothers, Jesse R. Sponaugle and Ervin Arthur Sponaugle; and one granddaughter. 

Pastor Dan Ludwick conducted the funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial was at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin. 

The family received friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Henry Sylvanus Reed, 80

Henry Sylvanus Reed, 80, Franklin, and formerly of Antioch, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg. 

Mr. Reed was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Jordan Run and was the son of the late William Reed and Daisy Ann Pennington Reed. 

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.  He made his home with Emma Helmick since 1982 and attended the Franklin Church of God. 

He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Russell Reed; one sister, Evalena Alt McCoy; and a half sister, Mabel Edith Whetzel.

Pastor Rob Borror conducted the funeral 11 a.m. Saturday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.  Burial was in Cherry Hill Cemetery in Upper Tract.  

Eva Elizabeth Welch, 64

Eva Elizabeth Welch, 64, formerly of Terra Alta, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA.  She had lived at Pendleton Nursing Home for five months. 

Mrs. Welch was born Oct. 11, 1938, in Moyers and was a daughter of the late Warren Porpst and Erma may Arbogast Propst. 

She was a homemaker and a Methodist.

Surviving are her husband, Willis H. Welch; a daughter, Sandra M. Welch of Solon, OH; three sons, Jeff Welch of Deerfield, OH, Gregory Welch of Aurora, OH, and Rodney Welch of Kent, OH; a sister, Delores Orcutt of Twinsburg, OH; a brother, Steve Propst of Moyers; and seven grandchildren.  

The Rev. Norman Nilsen conducted the funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Basagic Fuenral Home in Franklin.  Burial was at St. John's Cemetery in Moyers.
