Ellis C. Hoover

Ellis Cameron Hoover, 80, of Moyers died Thursday, May 3, 2007, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA.

He was born Sept. 21, 1926, in Doe Hill, VA, a son of the late Cameron William and Bertie (Snyder) Hoover.

He was a carpenter and a self-employed auto mechanic. He was a member of the Franklin Moose Lodge. 

Mr. Hoover served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He is survived by his caregiver and daughter-in-law, Pat Hoover of Sugar Grove; a daughter, Martha Jane Hodge of Churchville, VA; three granddaughters, Lisa Conner, Heather Brubeck and April Hogsett; a great-granddaughter, Amber Conner.; and a brother, William R. Hoover of Staunton, VA..

He also was preceded in death by a son Jerry Hoover; a sister, Lurline Mitchell; and three brothers, Everett, Eugene and J. Herbert Hoover.  

A graveside service was conducted Sunday at the Hoover family cemetery near Moyers.

Obaugh Funeral Home, McDowell, VA, was in charge of funeral arrangements. 

Mark D. McDonald

Mark Dewayne McDonald, 46, of Franklin, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007, as the result of an automobile accident.

Mr. McDonald was born Aug. 14, 1960, in Kings Daughters and was a son of Anne Pearl Smith McDonald and the late Chester Lewis McDonald.

He was a truck driver.

His wife, Terri Irene Powell McDonald, survives.

Also surviving are a step-daughter, Tessa Whittman of Martinsburg; a step-son, Brian Stoner Jr. of Falling Waters.; three brothers, David McDonald, John McDonald and Matthew McDonald, all of Martinsburg; four sisters, Wilma Snow, Sandy Catlett of Hedgesville, May Stevens and Brenda McDaniel, both of Martinsburg; and four step-grandchildren.

Pastor Shirley Hiles conducted a memorial service Saturday at World of Deliverance Church on Honey Crest Drive in Berkeley Springs.
