Lois F. Nelson
Lois F. Nelson, age 88 of Franklin, and formerly of Landover, MD, passed away at Pendleton Manor in Franklinon Monday, June 4, 2012.
She was born in Atlanta, GA on May 17, 1924, the daughter of the late Aaron Fredrick and Viola Alice(McFarland) Fields.
Mrs. Nelson attended school in Ellijay, GA. She is Episcopalian, a lifetime member of Eastern Star, and amember of the DAR. She was a retired Stenographer at Prince George's Hospital in Cheverly, MD.
On September 17, 1943, Lois married Ralph Earl Nelson, Sr., who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Anita Simmons and husband Troy Lee of Franklin; a son, Ralph Earl Nelson II ofFranklin; a brother, Robert Mack Fields of Atlanta, GA; a granddaughter, Tara Marie Simmons; two greatgranddaughters, Skyler and Brooke Hamm.
Family will receive friends today from 10:00 am until noon at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Rev. BobAnderson will officiate funeral services on Thursday at noon in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.

Daniel Loy Vance
Mr. Daniel Loy Vance, 62, of Roaring Creek Road, Onego, died Monday, June 4, 2012 at his home.
He was born August 7, 1949 at Onego, and was the son of the late Frank Vance and Edith Mae Hartman Vance.
A graduate of Circleville High School, he retired after 30 years at American Woodmark and was a member of theChurch of God.
Surviving are one sister, Alice Catherine "Katty" Heavener of Cabins; Two brothers, Frank Vance, Jr. of Onego,Bruce Vance and his wife, Sue of Seneca Rocks; two nephews and three nieces.
The family will receive friends at the Seneca Rocks Presbyterian Church on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at the Seneca Rocks Presbyterian Church with GregAdamson officiating. Burial will be at the Vance Family Cemetery near Onego.

Doris Alice Bennett
Doris Alice (Warner) Bennett, age 83 of Franklin, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at her residence.
She was born at Zigler, on October 11, 1928, the daughter of the late Virgil Edward and Beulah HartmanWarner.
Mrs. Bennett was a 1947 graduate of Franklin High School. She was a Presbyterian and attended Smith CreekChurch of the Brethren. She was a homemaker and had also worked in the Dietary Department at Aultman Hospital in Canton, OH.
On April 1, 1949 Doris married Milford Robert Bennett, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Darlene Wilton and husband Michael of North Canton, Terry Foster andhusband Harry of Elkton ; two sons, Edward Bennett and wife Kim of Massillon, OH, Kenneth Bennett of Canton; two sisters, Shelda Warner, Rachel Ruddle and husband Bill of Franklin; three brothers, William W. Warner and wife Lisa of Naples, FL, Wilson Warner of Ft. Pierce, FL, Harry Allen Warner and wife Marcia of Franklin; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Evelyn Mae Vandevander Warner.
Rev. Stanley Kile officiated funeral services on Tuesday at the Basagic Funeral Home chapel in Franklin.
Interment was in Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens in Canton, OH.

Neva K. Evick
Neva Katherine Evick, 82, of Franklin, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2012 at her residence.
She was born in Franklin on January 28, 1930, the daughter of the late George Osceola (3-3-1994) and RomaRuddle Hammer (1-14-1988).
She was a 1948 graduate of Franklin High School and a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Together with herhusband they operated the H-P Store. She was the co-owner and operator of Valley Clothing. She had worked for Dr. O. F. Mitchell and E. Bowman and Brother.
Her husband, William "Bill" Morgan Evick preceded her in death on October 8, 2011.
Surviving are a son, Jeffrey Hal Evick of Harrisonburg, VA; two sisters, Ima Lynn Warner of Franklin, OrvaHammer Sponaugle and husband Dale of Portsmouth, VA; three brothers, Dale Ruddle Hammer and wife Patsy, Gene Scott Hammer and wife Roxi, all of Franklin, and John Carl Hammer and wife Becky of Petersburg.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, George Ona and a sister, Juanita Blanch.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church, Franklin, with Pastors Craig andWendy Richter officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin.
Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Franklin Volunteer Fire Company, or Pendleton CountyRescue Squad.

Maxine Phares, 78
Maxine (Harman) Sites Phares, 78, of Elkins departed this life Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Ruby MemorialHospital in Morgantown.
She was born Aug. 10, 1933, at Onego and was a daughter of the late Doan Harman and Gae Moral Harman.
She was a graduate of Circleville High School and attended Bridgewater College. She was a homemaker, amember of the Elkins Church of the Brethren and was an avid doll collector.
She was twice married. Her first husband, Holly Worth Sites, preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 2003, and theyhad celebrated 50 years of marriage. Her second husband, Gary Phares, whom she married on Jan. 4, 2012, survives in Elkins.
Also surviving are one son, Holly Worth Sites, Jr., of Seneca Rocks; two daughters, Wilma Lee Burdette andhusband, John of Beverly, and Brenda Sue Sites of Junior; one sister, Wanda Harman and husband, Allan Goff of Petersburg; one sister-in-law, Patricia Harman of Petersburg; three grandchildren, Heather Bailey, Sterling McLean, Jr. And Sterling McLean, III; and five great grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were one brother, Dr. Chester Harman; one infant sister, Mary Jean Harman; onegranddaughter, Misty Petrice; and one great grandchild.
A funeral service was held Saturday at the Onego Church of the Brethren with Pastor Dusty Twigg officiating.
Interment followed at the Harman-Bland Cemetery at Onego.
Funeral arrangements were under direction of the Lohr-Barb Funeral Hone, Elkins.
