Doris Thompson

Doris Jeanne Thompson, 77, of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, died April 22, 2005. 

She was born in West Virginia. 

Residing in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, for over 30 years, she had worked for Thompson Electric and was a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Eagles and Moose. 

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John and Sandra Hensley of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four brothers, William D. Bow and Ronald D. Bowe, both of West Virginia, Raymond A. Bowe of Wichita, KS, and David Paul Bowe of Green, OH.  

A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at the North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton, by Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin.  

Tiney M. Simpson

Tiney M. Simpson, 72, of Pendleton Nursing Home, Franklin died June 6, 2005.  

Born in Raleigh County Feb. 1, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Rosie Bell Richmond. 

Her husband, Edward Clyde Simpson, Jr., died Oct.21, 1965.  

She was a 1944 graduate of Franklin High School and was a member of the Smith Creek Church of the Brethren.

Ms. Simpson was raised by her foster mother, Beulah Mallow, who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by a step-son, Eddie Simpson of Franklin. 

Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin, with Pastor Dan Ludwick officiating.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin.

Douglas W. Davis, 48

Douglas Wayne Davis, 48, husband of Teresa Ann (Miller) Davis in Verona, VA, died June 1, 2005 in the Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville, VA. 

He was born Oct. 27, 1956, in Pocahontas County, a son of Addie Estelle (Yochum) Davis Vance of Petersburg and the late James E. Davis Sr. 

Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Marines from 1974-1975.  He was founder of the former CLAD heating in 1991 in Grottoes, VA, changing the name in 1994 to American Air.  He has been in the heating and cooling business since 1985. 

He was a member of the Waynesboro Moose, Moose Legion, and the Augusta County Builders Association. 

In addition to his wife and mother, family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher D. and Amy N. Davis of Grottoes, VA; two daughters, Ashley N. Davis of Grottoes, VA, and Skylar W. Davis of Verona, VA; two brothers, James E. Davis, Jr., of Petersburg and Daniel Davis of Brandywine; four sisters Brenda Gragg of Elkins, Judy Baker of Moorefield, Becky Lambert of Harrisonburg, VA, and Pam Landis of Petersburg; one grandson; his step-father, Ralph Vance; the mother of his first two children , Linda L. Davis of Grottoes, VA; 20 nieces and nephews; and a number of great nieces and nephews.  

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Roger Davis. 

A funeral service was conducted at Monday at the Henry Funeral Home Chapel, Staunton, VA, by Pastor Harold Fuller, Jr.  Burial followed in Thornrose Cemetery. 

Memorials may be made to the Staunton Augusta Rescue Squad, Memorial Trust Fund, PO Box 2566, Staunton, VA 24402, or to the American Heart Association, 3025 Berkmar Drive, Charlottesville, VA  22901.  

Amanda L. Hedrick 79

Amanda Louise "Peggy" Hedrick, 79 , of Lakewood, CO, died May 30, 2005 at the Hospice of St. John in Lakewood, CO. 

Mrs. Hedrick was born Oct. 27, 1925, in Franklin and was a daughter of the late William Lee Dahmer and Maude Susan Hinkle Dahmer.

Her husband, Brooks Luther Hedrick, preceded her in death Feb. 14, 1991.

Survivors include two sons, Dale L. Hedrick of Lakewood, CO, and William "Bill" Hedrick of Baltimore, MD; a sister Lucille Ultis of Baltimore, MD; a brother, Roy Dahmer of Newark, DE, and several Nieces and nephews. 

She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Fred and Ted Hinkle and Joe and Berlin Dahmer.  

The Rev. Kenneth Haines conducted the funeral Sunday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial was at the Ruddle Cemetery in Ruddle. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Ruddle Cemetery.
