Donna A. Casidy, 87
Donna Alice Thompson Landes Casidy, 87, of Bridgewater, VA, was received into Heaven on Saturday, July 28, 2007.
Mrs. Casidy was born June 25, 1920, on Tract Mountain and was the tenth child of 16 children born to the late George Otis and Bessie Alice Thompson.
Mrs. Casidy took great pride in the growing of her flowers, had a giving spirit, enjoyed watching sports and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Mrs. Casidy was a member of VFW Post 8644 Bridgewater Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amby S. Landes, on March 13, 1959.
On April 22, 1967, she married Boward F. Casidy, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jo Ann Landes-Ross and husband, Siegfried of Lehigh Acres, FL, Norma Jean Clark and husband, Edward of Linville, and son, J. Steve Landes and wife, Lois of Linville 11 grandchildren: Cheryl Shifflett and husband, Dennis, Greg Randolph and Bruce Landes and wife, Vickie, and Jimmie Landes Jr. and wife, Connie, all of Harrisonburg, VA, Bev Randolph and Edward Clark, II and wife, Tina, all of Dayton, VA, Jean Ann Humphrey and husband, Lee of Charlottesville, VA, Steven Landes and wife, Laura of New Market, VA, Kevin Landes and wife, Tina, of Linville, VA, Cindy Atkins and husband, Timmy of Linville, VA, Rex Landes and wife, Cindy of Smoke Hole; 20 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, one sister, Tressie Bridges of Bridgewater, VA, and one brother, Paul "Chap" Thompson of Franklin.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jimmie S. Landes Sr. of Tract Mountain; five sisters, Viola Thompson Hevener, Jessie Thompson Sydner, Anna Thompson Hedrick, Nettie Thompson Alt and Reda Mae Thompson Gauding; and eight brothers, Oden "Son" Thompson, Clarence "Pum" Thompson, Ray "Coy" Thompson, Denver "Den" Thompson, George Thompson, Ona Thompson, Arlie "Boss" Thompson and Raymond "Pete" Thompson.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home in Bridgewater, VA, with the Rev. Stanley Kile officiating. Burial was at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

Mayselle (Judy) Kile, 91, of Petersburg died Monday, July 23, 2007, at Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg.
Mrs. Kile was born April 19, 1916, in Rough Run and was a daughter of the late Jacob E. Judy and Zillah Louella (Sites) Judy.
Her husband, George Brooke Kile, preceded her in death Feb. 7, 1973.
She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1937. She and her husband managed the Petersburg High School Cannery for several years, and she retired from the West Virginia Medical Center, where she had worked in the cafeteria bakery department.
She was a member of the Corner United Methodist Church in Cabins.
Surviving are one sister, Mary Wayne Shobe of Hagerstown, MD, and several nieces and nephews, including Gwen Bland of Petersburg, Roger Judy of Dorcas and Jeanette Wright of Franklin. .
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Alma M. Greenawalt; and one brother , Willard Judy.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, with the Rev. Stanley Kile officiating. Interment was at the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.
Memorials may be made to the Corner United Methodist Church, Burlington Family Services Inc., or the Grant County Nursing Home.
Henry Clay Smith, 93
Henry "Clay" Smith, 93, of Upper Tract died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin, W.Va., where he had lived since Sept. 27, 2004.
Mr. Smith was born Nov. 19, 1913, in Kline and was the son of the late Henry and Phoebe Smith.
He was a farmer most of his life and was a veteran of World War II.
He was the last survivor of his immediate family and is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Gene D. Smith of Lahmansville.
The Rev. Aaron Davidson conducted the funeral Friday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial was at the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.
