Clyde W. Nelson

Clyde William “Willie” Nelson, 64, of Bartow, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins. 

Mr. Nelson was born Aug. 17, 1941, in Boyer and was a son of Rodie Arbogast Nelson of Franklin and the late Clyde Samuel Nelson.

He was an Army veteran and was a foreman for the West Virginia Department of Highways.  He was a member of Calvary Full Gospel church in Durbin and the VFW.

His wife, of 40 years Donna Jean Rexrode Nelson survives.

In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by three daughters, Denise Salmons and husband, Wayne of Ripley, Lori Huffman and husband, John of Franklin and Stephanie Nelson of Bartow; two sons, Andy Nelson and Matthew Nelson and wife, Amy, all of Bartow; a sister, Margarite Waggy and husband Danny of Franklin; two brothers, Jesse Nelson of Ravanna, OH and Leon Nelson and wife, Cheryl of Arbovale; and seven grandchildren.

The Rev. Harold Swecker will conduct the funeral Sunday at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale.Burial was at the Arbovale Cemetery.  the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin assisted with arrangements. 

Mabel P. Shreve, 85

Mabel P. Shreve, 85, of Keyser died Saturday, August 12, 2006, at the Hampshire Memorial Hospital in Romney. 

Born on August 30, 1920, at Upper Tract, she was a daughter of the late Charles Oscar and Louethel (Painter) Painter. 

Her husband, A. Bowers Shreve, preceded her in death on May 8, 1973. 

A 1940 graduate of Franklin High school, she was a loving homemaker, mother and grandmother.  Her family was very important to her and she was very proud of each and every one of them.  She attended the Mineral Baptist Church, Keyser.  

Mrs. Shreve was the last surviving member of her immediate family. 

Surviving are one son, Dennis Shreve of Keyser, four daughters, Beth Lease and husband, Ernest, and Peggy Smith , all of Keyser, Kitty Alt and husband, Loy of Green Spring , and Eva Ansel and husband, Fred of Springfield; a daughter-in-law, Paula Shreve of Keyser; a son-in-law, Wesley Smith; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and many other close family friends, nieces and nephews.  

She also was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Shreve; two brothers; and two sisters. 

Funeral services were conducted at the Mineral Baptist church on Wednesday with Pastor Kris Lengel officiating.  Interment was in the Mineral Baptist Cemetery, Keyser. 

Smith Funeral Home, Keyser chapel, Keyser, was in charge of funeral arrangements.  

Daniel A. Anderson

Daniel August Anderson, 25, of Havre De Grace, MD, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006, at his residence. 

Mr. Anderson was born April 11, 1981, and was the son of Henry David Anderson of Gallatin, MT., and the late Sonja Lou Vandevander Anderson, who died June 5, 2006.   

He graduated from North Harford High School in Street, MD, and attended Harford Community College.  He as a cook at McGregor's Restaurant in Havre De Grace, MD. 

Surviving, besides his father, are grandmothers, Arvella Lambert Vandevander of Franklin and Thelma Bailey Anderson of Joppa, MD; and a brother Mathew D. Anderson of Joppa, MD.  

The Rev. Carl Tribett conducted a graveside funeral Saturday at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the Walnut Street United Methodist Church in Franklin or to the Mountain Hospice, PO Box 416, Franklin, WV  26807.  

Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin was in charge of arrangements. 

Rastus H. Strother, 87

Rastus Howard Strother, 87, of Mount Solon, VA, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006; at Harrisonburg, VA. 

Mr. Strother was born March 8, 1919, in Mount Solon, VA, and was the son of the late William Howard and Julie Ann Wallace Strother.  

He worked at Bowman Coal Company, Shen-Mar Poultry Plant and Perdue, before his retirement. 

He was a member of North River Baptist Church in Bridgewater, VA, where he also served as a deacon.  After his retirement, he served the church as custodian. 

On April 15, 1936, he married Tessie Elizabeth Crawford Strother; she preceded him in death Sept. 24, 1996. 

Surviving are three daughters, Gloria A. Moats of Moyers, Nancy J. Moats of Mount solon, VA, and Karen E. Hall of Staunton, VA; two sons, Kenneth L. Strother of New Market, VA, and Griffin W. Strother of Warren, OH; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Leonard Thomas, Sr., conducted the funeral Saturday at North River Baptist church in Bridgewater , VA.  Burial was in the Greenwood-Ames Cemetery in Bridgewater, VA.

George Nelson, Sr. 71

George A. Nelson, 71, of Fork, MD, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006. 

Mr. Nelson was born July 4, 1935, in Pendleton county and was the son of the late John and Laura Lambert Nelson. 

He retired as a laborer from Eastern Stainless Steel. 

His wife, Betty Nelson, survives. 

Also surviving are three daughters, Beverley Ferguson of Forest Hill, MD, Patricia Fronzoli of Airville, PA, and Michelle Nelson of Rosedale, MD; two sons, George A. Nelson, Jr., of Kingsville, MD, and Timothy Nelson of Perry Hall, MD; three brothers, Benny nelson, Jesse Nelson and Elmer Nelson, all of Franklin; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  

Five brothers, Edgar, Glenn, Richard, Harry and Robert Nelson, preceded him in death. 

A funeral was conducted Wednesday at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel in Bel Air, MD.  Burial was in the Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
