Betty Lee Rowe, 63
Mrs. Betty Lee (Harris) Rowe, 63, of 407 Peach St., Staunton VA, died at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at her residence.
She was born on July 18, 1939, in Augusta County, VA, a daughter of Juanita Frances (Simmons) Harris Johnson and the late Harry Hansford Harris.
Prior to retirement, Mrs. Rowe was employed by Western State Hospital with 30 years of service. She then worked at Wal-Mart Super Center.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, George H. Harris, and the father of her children, William A. Rowe, Sr.
Surviving in addition to her mother and stepfather, Elmer D. Johnson of Fishersville, VA, are a son and daughter-in-law, William A. "Billy" Rowe, Jr., and Diane of Franklin; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela R. and Ricky Clifton of Verona, VA; two sisters, Dale Wyant and Linda Campbell, both of Churchville, VA; two grandchildren, Mariah Renea Rowe and Courtney Paige Rowe, and many friends.
A funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, in Augusta Memorial Park by Pastor Larry W. Barrett.

Patricia D. Campbell, 68
Mrs. Patricia "Patty" Darrow Campbell, 68, a resident of 942 Greendale Road in Harrisonburg, VA, died 9:40 Tuesday morning, Oct. 1, 2002, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA, She had been battling cancer for the past year.
A daughter of the late Russell H. and Treva Shirkey Derrow, she was born on March 18, 1934, in Harrisonburg, VA, where she lived her entire life.
She attended Harrisonburg public schools and was a homemaker, Mrs. Campbell attended the Evening Light Assembly of Grottoes, VA.
She and her family spent a lot of time at the family farm on Sandy Ridge.
On Dec. 23, 1950, she married Archie C. "Sonny" Campbell, Sr., who survives her.
She also leaves three sons, Archie C. Campbell, Jr., of Harrisonburg, VA, Michael Campbell and wife, Diannah "Lulu" of Clover Hill, VA, and Chris A. Campbell and wife, Tina, of Harrisonburg, VA; two grandchildren, Anneka Campbell of Charlotte, NC, and Megan Ritchie of Harrisonburg, VA; and a future grandson, Wyatt Patrick, to arrive in February, 2003. Also surviving are a brother, Robert E. Derrow of Geenville, MS; four sisters, Lillian Elyard, Flo Taylor, Naomi "Nub" Comer and Terry Ann Shook, all of Harrisonburg, VA; and a number of nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Donald Derrow of Ozone, NY, who was raised in the Derrow home.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Derrow; and two sisters, Elaine Armentrout and Ellen Virginia Derrow.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday morning from the Chapel of the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Carlos Lewis and Holmes Campbell officiating. Interment followed in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. The casket was closed.
Memorial contributions may be made to Rockingham Memorial Hospital or the Clover Hill Volunteer Fire Company, in her memory.
Lucy Mae Dove, 93
Lucy Mae Dove, 93, of Fort Seybert, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA.
Mrs. Dove was born Nov. 28, 1908, in Fort Seybert and was a daughter of the late Reuben and Ida Mitchell Puffenbarger.
She was a homemaker. She had been a resident at the Pendleton Nursing Home for several years and was a member of the Bethlehem Church of the Brethren.
On Nov. 13, 1932, she married Samuel H. Dove, who preceded her in death Nov. 18, 1993.
She is survived by three sisters, Nellie Dove of Harrisonburg, VA, Roma Weller of Temple Hills, MD, and Lela Kuykendall of Churchton, MD; a brother, Ernest Puffenberger of Moorefield; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son and one grandson.
The Rev. Eugene Shaver conducted the funeral 11 a.m. Thursday at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial was in the Puffenbarger family cemetery near Fort Seybert.
Myrtle May Smith, 82
Mrs. Myrtle May Smith, 82, of Melbourne, FL, and formerly of Franklin, died September 30, 2002, at Carnegie Gardens Nursing Home in Melbourne, FL.
She was born June 27, 1920, at Ruddle and was the daughter of the late Allen Bowers and Minnie Alice Thompson Bowers.
She was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith.
On Nov. 20, 1939, she married Arvel A. Smith, who preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 1991.
Surviving are two daughters, Charlotte Stickley of Strasburg, VA, and Linda Braud of Melbourne, FL; three grandsons, seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin with Rev. Stanley Kile officiating. The family will receive friends one half hour prior to service.
Burial will be at the Cedar Hill Cemetery at Franklin.
