Virginia N. Judy

Virginia N. Judy, 90, of Upper Tract, WV died Monday, November 7, 2011 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

She was born September 19, 1921 at Ruddle, WV and was the daughter of the late Charles William Judy and Zola Simmons Judy.

She was a registered nurse for over forty years, having worked at the Veach-Townsend Clinic and Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Virginia was a member of the Upper Tract Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are one son, John Judy Johnson & his wife, Cynthia Shank Johnson of Parkton, MD; one granddaughter, Emily Renee Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Tulsi Rain Johnson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, John Judy, and one granddaughter, Jennifer Lee Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at Saturday, at 1 p.m. at the Upper Tract Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kevin Hand officiating. Burial will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery at Upper Tract, West Virginia.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday, at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.

Rodney Ray Rummel

Rodney Ray Rummel, age 47 of Sugar Grove, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at his residence.

He was born on July 12, 1964 at Montpelier, OH, the son of the late Richard Harold and Evelyn Lenore McClish Rummel.

Mr. Rummel was a graduate of Montpelier High School and was a Methodist by faith. He was a member of the American Legion Posts 40 and 8, VFW Post 6454, and Pendleton County Volunteer Rescue Squad. He was a referee for school sports and retired as a security guard, having worked at Central Security in Harrisonburg, VA and at the Pendleton County Courthouse. Rodney was a Veteran of the US Navy and served from 1983-1991.

On June 13, 1993, he married Vickie Lynn Dahmer, who survives in Sugar Grove.

Also surviving are a step daughter, Sharon Jamison and husband Dennis of Franklin, WV; a step son, Raymond Houck of Franklin; three half sisters, Teresa Aspinwall, Collecta Cunningham, Marla Camberlin; a half brother, Richard Rummel; three aunts, Sue Rademacher, Norma Fackler, Shirley Munger; an uncle, Terry Rummel; 3 step-grandchildren, Savannah Jamison, Travis Jamison, and Lindsey Houck.

He was also preceded in death by a half brother, Gregory L. Kuhbander.

The family will receive friends on Friday, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the NIOC Chapel, Sugar Grove. Chaplain Lt CMDR Patricia Coley will officiate a memorial service at 7:00 PM. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, DC.

Memorials may be made to Pendleton County Rescue Squad, Pendleton Manor, or Franklin Volunteer Fire Company.

Bernard W. Raines

Mr. Bernard W. Raines, 73, of Circleville, WV died Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

He was born Jan. 11, 1938 at Dry Run, West Virginia and was the son of the late Bob Raines and Nola Hinkle Raines.

Mr. Raines had worked for Lockhart Construction in Ohio, was a timberman, drove a lime truck for Russell Lawrence and retired from Inter-State Lumber in 2000. Bernard was a 1957 graduate of Circleville High School, a member of the North Dry Run United Methodist Church and past member of Circleville Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are two daughters, Lois Waggy & husband, David of Franklin, Anita Huffman & husband, Bill of Franklin; two sons, Marlin Raines & wife, Janice of Circleville, Danny Raines & wife, Kacey of Harrisonburg, VA; one sister, Wanda Delores Rexrode of Moyers; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by one brother, Bobbie Raines and one sister, Leah Belle Warner.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin, West Virginia with Rev. Stanley Kile officiating. Burial will be at the Hinkle Cemetery on Snowy Mountain Road.

Jennie W. Lantz Geiser

Jennie W. Lantz Geiser, 85, of Silver Spring, MD, passed away October 26, 2011 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD.

She was born June 15, 1926, on Reeds Creek and was the daughter of the late Estella M. Lantz and William J. Harold.

She spent most of her youth in Franklin with her aunt Ruth Lantz, to attend school. After graduating from Franklin High School in 1946, she moved to Washington, DC, to attend Strayer College.

She was an active member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Silver Spring, MD, and was highly involved in school and community activities until she moved to the Hillhaven Nursing Home in Adelphi, MD.

She was married 42 years to Joseph D. Geiser, who preceded her in death on March 24, 1992.

Surviving are her children, Nancy Frame, Ruth Ann Geiser (Floyd Propst), Margaret Geiser and J.D. Geiser, Jr.

(Kathy); three grandchildren, Staci Miller (James), Sean and Justin Geiser; and two great-grandchildren; Jonathan Frame and Ryan Miller; and other family.

Services were held Nov. 1 at the Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, Silver Spring, MD. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Baltimore, MD.

Kevin M. Moyer

Kevin Michael Moyer, 23, of Timberville, VA, died November 5, 2011 at his residence.

He was born January 10, 1988 in Harrisonburg, VA and was the son of Eddie L. Moyer of Timberville and Kathy Smith Moyer of Timberville, VA.

He worked at the steam plant for the City of Harrisonburg, VA.

Also surviving are a brother; Shannon L. Moyer and fiancÚ Abbelina Sical of Harrisonburg, VA, a sister; Kaitlin Lewis of Timberville, VA, a step father Wayne Lewis of Timberville, VA, a step mother; Christie N. Moyer of Timberville, VA, a step brother; Wayne Lewis Jr. of Rochester, NY, Paternal grandparents; Ronnie L. Moyer of Timberville and Jackie Dellinger of Sugar Grove, and a maternal grandmother; Katherine G. Smith of Singers Glen, VA.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather; Dennis D. Smith.

Pastor Kevin Gerber will conduct a private graveside.

Edward Huston, Jr., 49

Edward Huston, Jr., 49, of Grottoes, VA died November 1, 2011 at his home.

He was born March 11, 1962 in Gallipolis, OH, and was a son of the Louise (Queen) Church of Jackson, OH, and the late Edward Huston.

Mr. Huston worked as a service technician for Cargill in Dayton, Va and was a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church in Brandywine. He served in the US Army as an Airborne Ranger and was a member of American Legion Post 188, VFW Post 632 and Amvets Post VA-7. In his spare time, he loved hunting and fishing.

On May 18, 2005, Ed was united in marriage to Cindy Miller Huston of Grottoes, VA who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Melanie Huston of FL; two step-sons, Austin Miller of Warner Robins, GA, and Brian Fink of McGaheysville, VA; three brothers, Melvin Detty of Brandywine, Dean Detty of Radcliff, OH, and Johnny Huston of Jackson, OH; one sister, Lamura Phillips of Stuarts Draft, VA; and seven grandchildren, Richard, Christian, Jada, Will, Chris, Stone, and Garrett.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Sonny Huston and a beloved pet, Molly
