Stanley Cook

Stanley Cook, 85, Hillsgrove, PA, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001 at Williamsport Hospital in Williamsport, PA.

Mr. Cook was born June 23, 1916, in Riverton and was the son of the late Mary Huffman.

He retired in 1978 as a farmer and attended Hillsgrove United Methodist Church.

His wife, Ruth Shadduck Cook, preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 1998.

He is survived by a duaghter, marion Higley of Hillsgrove, PA; a son, Joh Speaker of Williamsport, PA; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Elder Richard Warner condcuted a graveside service Friday, Nov. 30, 2001 at the Weese family cemetery in Riverton.

Arrangements were by Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin.

 

Kathleen R. Elza, 74

Kathleen Rebecca Elza, 74, Petersburg, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001 at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

Mrs. Elza was born March 12, 1927, in Petersburg and was a daughter of the late John Swick and Stella Iman.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Brethren.

She was preceded in death by her second husband, Lafayette Hall Elza, who died April 10, 1987.

Survivors include her first husband, Afred Ellifritz, Baltimore, MD; a friend and companion, Benny Caton, Petersburg, seven daughters, Charlotte Mullins and Carol Ellifritz, both of Petersburg;, Annalee Self, Burlington, Trela Kay Marmen, Connie Westscott and Toni Westscott, all of Baltimore, MD and Barbara Sponaugle, Circleville; one son, Jerry Ellifritz, Baltimore, MD; three sisters Irene Nelson, Ridgely, LeeAnna Drawford and Evelyn Wratchford both of Petersburg; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Alfred Charles Ellifritz; two brothers, George Swick and Elvin Swick and three sisters, Dorsey Cain, Virginia Swick and Elizabeth Phillips.

Rev. Stanley Kile conducted the funeral at 2 p.m. Monday at the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home. Burial followed at the North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton.
