--> November 27, 2005

I have a NEW EMAIL ADDRESS!

NEW EMAIL ADDRESS!

I have switched internet providers. Previous Email addresses "bgramp@att.net" and/or "bgramp@worldnet.att.net" are no longer valid!!

--> October 16 2005

Added a few notes to various cemeteries in our Cemetery section.

Also, I think we have resolved my Email problems (some were returned to you as undeliverable because they were being "blocked" by my internet provider). If you have a problem with it, please note alternative Email addresses (below)- one of them should hopefully work.

--> September 30, 2005

A big "thank you" to Barbara (Friel) Albright for providing directions to the Clawson Cemetery.

--> August - September 2005

Due to problems receiving E-mails, I am providing 2 email addresses. My internet provider AT&T is "blocking" some e-mails sent to me. They are working with me to fix the problem. In order to do that, I need to receive a copy of your e-mails that were returned to you. If you could "Forward" a copy of your returned E-mail to both of the e-mail addresses below, I would appreciate it. I apologize for the inconvenience and any frustration this has caused. <<November 27, 2005 Update>> This note is outdated. I have changed my internet provider - leaving ATT.NET. See above November 27, 2005 entry in regard to my NEW Email Address.

--> July 30, 2005

You will find it in our "Maps, photos, postcards, etc". section - or click here to go straight there. Thank you again Craig and I am sorry it took so long to get published.

--> July 29, 2005

You will find their page in our "Maps, photos, postcards, etc". section - or click here to go straight there. Thank you very much Joseph and again I offer my apologies for the delay in getting them published.

Thanks much to Volunteer Craig Schultz for providing updates to our Newton Duffield and Elizabeth Curry Duffield family web page. Check out their new "Hill, Richard and Nancy McNeel" page in Homepages in the "Records, Homepages, Searches" section - or click here to go straight there. Thanks for the information and Good Luck Mike!

Volunteer Doug Jackson and his wife J.J. have been busy documenting more cemetery surveys. You will find the Beverage Cemetery and the Buckeye Presbyterian Church Cemetery online in our "Cemeteries" section and in our Archives. And still to come are the Baxter and the Oak Grove Cemeteries!! Really can't thank you two enough.

We received another contribution from Volunteer Sally Starks Torchik. In the county Archives you will find a copy of the Marriage License of Samuel Starks and Annie Simmons Starks. Sally says that after previously contributing her father's birth certificate, she has heard from a couple of people that are also researching the same family of Starks. Here's hoping that Sally hears from many more fellow researchers that are as generous as she is. Thank you again Sally!

You can get to the Pocahontas County WVGenWeb Archives from the "Records, Homepages, Searches" section - or click here to go straight there.

--> June 1, 2003

I received a great Memorial Day surprise from Tim Sutton - a survey of the McLaughlin-Sutton Cemetery in Cass. Not only did he and his wife take the survey, but Tim also drives from his home in Waynesboro, Virginia several times yearly to do maintenance and lawncare on the cemetery. We need more people like Tim and his wife! Thank you very very much for the survey and for caring. You will find their survey in our "Cemeteries" section and in our Archives.

In February 2003, Helen Flach sent me an update regarding her photo of an Unknown Cemetery. With some help from our readers, we have identified it as the Gay family cemetery in Edray. The people are still not known, but the picture was probably taken around 1908. See more about this here and see if you can help to identify the people. Thanks much for the update Helen and thanks to everyone that helped. Sorry I took so long to publish the update.

--> January 21, 2003

We are starting the year off with a wonderful contribution from French Campbell. It is a picture postcard of the Brown's Creek School, Huntersville District, April 24, 1911. This group photo even has the names of the individuals written on the back. French came into possession of this many years ago and as far as he knows he does not have relatives from Pocahontas County. Thank you very very much French. You will find it in the "Maps, photos, postcards, etc." section.

--> December 22, 2002

In the future I will create a new section for our cemetery pictures on this non-Archives county website. But for now they are available only on the county Archives site. Today it looks like the USGenWeb Archives search function is working! When it was not working, a misleading "Internal Server Error" was received when you tried to perform a search. This made the error seem like you were doing something wrong. You weren't - it was just broken and they had to rebuild it.

--> October 14, 2002

Updated the "postcards" page that can be found in the "Maps, photos, postcards, etc." section. Thank you to new volunteer Tom Watkins for contributing the Marlinton Hospital and Edray District High School postcards!

Added new transcript of Mountain View Cemetery, Section 2 of 7 to the county Archives and cemetery section Many thanks to volunteer Joy Buzzard for transcribing!

FYI: the Mountain View Cemetery survey was originally contributed to the Archives by Pam Hoover Johnson and Doug Jackson over more than a year ago. We have been posting (jpg)images of the typed survey for our users to view, and for volunteers to transcribe into text. We need it in text format so that the data will show up when the search function is used. We could still use volunteers to help transcribe. Let me know if you are willing to help (it's really easy - it just takes time).

Added the Alderson Cemetery survey to the county Archives and cemetery section. This was surveyed and transcribed by volunteer Joy Buzzard. Thanks again Joy!
