MORE ABOUT THIS BOOK: (on CD in Microsoft Word format): This is
the only published comprehensive genealogical history of the Galford surname.
It includes data from interviews, cemetery visits, census records, courthouse
records, family Bibles and extensive correspondence, and various old books.
It also contains information on the original Galfords who settled in Augusta
County, Virginia, which later became southeastern West Virginia, particularly
Pocahontas County. The book traces the migrations of the Galfords to Pike
County, Ohio, and west in 1817; to Lewis County, West Virginia, in the
1850s; and generally to Ohio thereafter. The book contains many footnotes,
accounts, transcribed records, and stories that are precious vignettes
about the people mentioned in this work. The data organization is so unique
that the Library of Congress granted a copyright on the information organization
method, it's display, and indexing technique.
The CD of the book, in Microsoft Word format, includes the original book
plus all additions and changes since 1981. The book's index contains about
1,300 entires for the Galford name and over 17,000 names in total. Names
