Chester N. Ogden
Chester N. Ogden, 84, a resident of French Creek, died at 4:20 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, in Holbrook’s Nursing Home at Buckhannon.
He was born Sept. 22, 1921, at Holly Grove, the son of the late Ashley N. Ogden and Doris Ruth Alderman Ogden.
Surviving are one sister, Catherine Reger; one nephew, Jim Reger of Maryland; and friends, Linda Long and children of French Creek, who took Chester in as family.
Also preceding him in death was one sister, Marguerite Long.
He was a mechanic and was Methodist by faith.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor David Jesse officiating. Interment will follow in Rock Cave Cemetery at Rock Cave. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  From 8 Aug 2006.

John L. Ostrowske
John L. Ostrowske, 75, a resident of Halethorpe, Md., died Friday, March 10, 2006, in Mariner Health of Glen Burnie, Glen Burnie, Md.
He was born Nov. 22, 1930, at Ellamore, the son of the late Walter Ostrowske and Rosa Waugaman Ostrowske.
He is survived by his wife, Sara V. (Burris) Ostrowske of Halethorpe, Md.; one daughter, Dianne L. (Ostrowske) Shoemaker of French Creek; one niece, Crystal R. Ostrowske of Lansdowne; one nephew, Mark Ostrowske of Street, Md.; and two sisters, Georgia Elliott of West Virginia and Nellie Nakvos of Chicago, Ill.
Also preceding him in death was one grandson, Angus Breen.
He was a bus driver with Baltimore-Washington International Airport. He was a member of Solomon’s Lodge 121 of the Masons, York Rite Masons, American Legion Post 195 and Order of the Moose in Glen Burnie, Md. He enjoyed driving, growing roses, traveling and hunting.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Friday, March 17, from noon until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Mitch Griffin will officiate and interment will follow in Mt. Sylvia Orndorff
Sylvia Orndorff, 92, of Arbovale, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, in Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins of complications following surgery for a broken hip.
Born Dec. 15, 1913, at Winterburn, near present day Thornwood, she was the daughter of the late Fountain C. and Abbie Wilfong Arbogast.
Sylvia was a lifelong resident of Pocahontas County. She worked alongside her husband, Moody, as merchants of the Farmers Supply Co. in Arbovale from 1941 to 1975. After selling the store and retiring, she and Moody lived in Durbin until Moody’s death in 1981. She moved to an apartment in Marlinton, became involved with the senior center and enjoyed many bus tours taking her to cities all over the United State, Nova Scotia, Hawaii and Japan. In the 1990s, she moved back to Arbovale beside her daughter, Betty Lambert. Sylvia was temporarily residing at the Colonial Place Assisted Living Center in Elkins at the time of her death. Sylvia was a member of Arbovale United Methodist Church and a devoted Christian. Although it is not for us to judge, Sylvia long ago made her peace with her God and has been looking forward to going home to be with him for sometime now. We can all take solace in the fact that she is now in a better place.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Moody Orndorff; and a brother, Ray Arbogast.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty Lambert of Arbovale; three sons, William of Aurora, Ohio, Richard of San Antonio, Texas, and Roger of Monterey, Va.; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at Arbovale United Methodist Church with Pastor Frank Plass officiating. Burial will follow at Arbovale Cemetery. Mary E. Owens
Mary Elizabeth Antoline “Buddy” Owens, 93, a resident of Grant Street, Elkins, departed this life Sunday morning, Feb. 19, 2006, at the home of her granddaughter, Debbie Webley, with whom she had made her home for the past 13 years. She had been in her usual health and death was attributed to heart failure.
She was born Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1913, at Harding, a daughter of the late Dominick Antoline and Mary Carmal Mastroguiseppe Antoline.
On July 16, 1942, at Elkins, she was married to William Francis Owens, who preceded her in death July 7, 1964. Surviving are one son, Robert Thomas Owens and wife, Wanda, of Belington; one daughter, Barbara Ann Kesling of Elkins; one sister, Isabelle Sampson of Elkins; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were three brothers, Archie, Edward and Victor Antoline; and three sisters, Anna Rossi, Lena Brady and Virginia Loughead.
Mary was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1931, had worked for Dornblazer Lumber Co. for several years as a law clerk for the late Milford Gibson, and for 15 1/2 years as a clerk for the U.S. Forest Service at Elkins. She was a volunteer for the Women’s Aid in Crisis, North Central Community Action and Catholic Community Services. She was a member of Saint Brendan Catholic Church, loved to cross-stitch, crochet and gardening.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. On Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home, a prayer service will be recited by Sister Teresa Reddington. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Fr. Charles McCallister will officiate and interment will follow at Saint Brendan Cemetery at Elkins.
