George D. Yokum
George D. Yokum, 77, a resident of Huttonsville, passed away Thursday
Feb. 2, 2006, at his residence. He had been in failing health; however, death
was sudden and unexpected.

Howard H. Yokum
Howard Herbert Yokum, 88, a resident of Mill Creek, passed away at 12:45
p.m. Monday, April 17, 2006, in Davis Memorial Hospital.

Howard H. Yokum
Howard Herbert Yokum, 88, a resident of Mill Creek, passed away at 12:45
p.m. Monday, April 17, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 4, 1918, at Elkins, a son of the late Lorenza Burns Yokum and
the late Alta Maude Shaffer Yokum.
He was married to Eva Mae Channell, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are one son, Harry Yokum and wife, Vicky, of Martinsburg; a daughter,
Margaret Sharlene Yokum of Mill Creek; two sisters, Mildred Conrad and Marie
Hall; three grandchildren, Chris Yokum and wife, Sandra, of Leesburg, Va., Lori
Daniels and husband, Chris, of Bristo, Va., and Christopher Hutchens; and three
great-grandchildren, Taylor Marrie and Mason Riley Yokum and Hannah Elizabeth
Daniels.
Mr. Yokum served with the Civilian Conservation Corps near Glady, was employed
as a coal miner for many years retiring from Island Creek Coal Co. and was a
member of United Mine Workers of America.
Mr. Yokum’s remains were cremated. Memorial contributions may be made to the
Randolph County Humane Society, P.O. Box 785, Elkins, W.Va. 26241 in memory of
Mr. Yokum. Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for

Mary D. York
Mary D. York, 77, a former resident of 149 Delaware Ave. and a resident
of Nella’s since 2002, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2006.
At the request of the deceased, the remains were cremated. A complete obituary
will follow. F.E. Runner Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mary D. York
Mary D. York, 77, a former resident if 149 Delaware Ave., and a resident
of Nella’s since 2002, passed away at 4 p.m. Wednesday. March 1, 2006, at
Nella’s. She had been in failing health for the past several years.
Born Aug. 6, 1925, at Elkins, she was the daughter of the late Jesse G. and
Maude M. Smith York.
She had never married.
Mary attended the schools of Randolph County and was a graduate of Davis and
Elkins College. She then was employed at the West Virginia Department of Health
and Human Resources from where she retired in April of 1986.
Mary is survived by a sister, Ruth S. York, who is a resident of Nella’s;
and a special sister-in-law, Ruby E. York of Buffalo Street, Elkins.
Preceding her in death besides her parents were a sister, Virginia W. York; and
three brothers, Tracy D. York, George W. York and Raymond Jerome “Joe” York.
At the request of the deceased, the remains were cremated and there will be no
memorial service. At a later date the remains will be interred at
Maplewood Cemetery. F.E. Runner Funeral Home was in charge of the

Katina M. Young
Katina Michelle (Kelley-Martin) Young, 34, of Philippi, died Tuesday
evening, Sept. 3, 2006, in Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, following a
sudden and unexpected illness.
She was born Sept. 3, 1972, at Elkins, a daughter of Robert M. “Mick”
Kelley, who survives at Philippi, and Sharon (Holbert) Martin, who survives in
Pennsylvania.
Also surviving are her husband, Alex Young of South Carolina; three children,
Joshua, Lila and Angelica, all of South Carolina; a sister, Heather Bufagna of
Pennsylvania; her stepfather, Butch Martin of Florida; her step-mother, Ginette
Kelley of Philippi; two nephews; and several aunts and uncles.
Mrs. Young was a graduate of Philip Barbour High School, where she was active in
sports and had been named a homecoming princess.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, from Stemple and
Forman Funeral Home, 385 S. Main St. in Philippi. The Rev. Bryan Headley will
officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday. Stemple

Katina M. Young
Katina Martin Young, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Belington,
passed away Sept. 5, 2006, in Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown.
She was born at Elkins, Sept. 3, 1972, the daughter of Shari Holbert of Kenwood,
Pa., formerly of Belington.
She is survived also by her husband, Alexander Young and their three children,
Joshua, Lila and Angel; and two stepsons, Cody and Nathan Young of Myrtle Beach,
S.C. In addition, she is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Heather and
Joe Bufagna, and their children, Antonio and Dominic of Dilltown, Pa. She is
also survived by an aunt and uncle, Lisa and Brent Norris of Charles Town; aunt
and uncle, Rose Marie and Gene Holbert of Fairmont; cousins, Gina, Destiny,
Christian and Bethany Brown of Belington, Mike Brown of Wheeling, Derek and
Miles Holbert of Fairmont, Dean and Rosa Marie Brown of Maryland and Ruth Ann
Poling of Philippi.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Connie and Eugene Holbert.
A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date in Myrtle Beach.
