Calvin V. Bohon ![]()
Calvin Van Bohon, 74, of Midland N.C., died Dec. 21, 2005 at Northeast Medical Center.
Born May 14, 1931, in St. George, he was the son of the late Obie Bohon and bonnie Dumire Bohon. Survivors include wife Kris Bohon of Midland and his sister, Naomi Close of Terra Alta.
He was a veteran of the army and fought in the Korean War. He was a retire commercial printer.
The memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Dec. 23 at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Midland. Mark Trautman officiated.
Carol J. Harper
Carol Jean Propst Harper, age 68 years, a resident of the Moore community, Tucker County, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, Jan, 4, 2006, at Charleston Area Medical Center. She had been in declining health since April.
She was born Saturday, Nov. 27, 1937, at Moore, WV, a daughter of the late Bethel Propst Summerfield. She was reared by Elizabeth “Sally” Propst, who preceded her in death in March of 1996. On Sept. 23, 1952, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Paul W. “Sweetie” Harper, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Paul W. “Button” Harper Jr., Richard R. Harper and wife, Pam, and Joseph A. Harper, all of Parsons; two daughters, Paula J. McDonald and husband, Artie, of Shavers Fork and Betty L. Pullins and husband, Stuart, of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Bernard Dale Propst of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters; Lenora Schwinabart of Elk Garden and Mary Paugh of Baltimore, Md.; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Bud Summerfield; one granddaughter, Rachel Lynn McDonald; one great-grandson, Jarrett Blaine Davis; and her stepfather, Howard Summerfield. She attended the schools of Porterwood and Parsons. She was an employee of the former Reidboard Company at Elkins for many years, Kingsford Charcoal Co., the former Parsons Footwear and at the time of her illness, she was the supervisor of the Tucker County Wellness Center. She loved crafts, arts and painting.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. On Friday evening at 8 p.m., final rites were conducted. The Rev. Eli Hostetler officiated. Mrs. Harper’s request for cremation will be honored. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Carol Jean Propst Harper. Mary E. Hebb
Mary Emily Hebb, age 88 years, a resident of Saint George, departed this life Thursday afternoon, Jan. 5, 2006, at her home.
She had been in declining health.
She was born Friday, Sept. 7, 1917, at Hile Run, Leadmine, WV, a daughter of the late Thomas Hebb and Stella Catherine Lipscomb Hebb.
She had never married.
Surviving are three nieces, Evelyn Chaney and Texieann Broadaway, both of Cedartown, Ga. and Imogene Crosswhite of Idaho; several great-nieces and nephews; and one sister in law, Ruby Hebb of Colonial Place in Elkins.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by one brother, Alva J Hebb and four infant brothers. She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1940. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse working for the former Tucker County Hospital until it’s closing and retiring from Cortland Acres Nursing Home. Miss Hebb loved to read, sew, crochet, knit and gardening, and she had a great love for her cats.
The family received friends at the Saint George Church of God on Sunday, January 8, 2006 from 5 until 8 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the church on Monday January 9, 2006 at 1 p.m. Pastor Carolyn Shreve and Pastor Grady Chaney officiated and interment followed at the Fairview Cemetery at Location, Saint George, WV. Elwood I. Paugh
Elwood Isaac Paugh, 79, of Thomas, W. Va., passed away Jan. 2, 2006, in Garrett County Memorial Hospital at Oakland, Md.
He was born Sept. 18, 1926, at Benbush, a son of the late Isaac Ogden and Edith Lenora Roy Paugh. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Hanline Paugh of Thomas, W. Va., two sons, David and Gary Paugh, both of Thomas, W. Va., one brother, Phra Paugh of Eglon, W. Va., one sister, Delores Watring of Brunswich, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Chris (and Missy) Paugh, Patrick and Sarah Paugh. He was a retired coal miner and member of United Mine Workers of America District 31. He was a member of Thomas United Methodist Church.
Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis, W. Va. on Thursday Jan. 5, 2006 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services were held at Hinkle Funeral Chapel on Friday, Jan. 6, at 1 p.m., with Rev. James Martin officiating. Interment followed at Rose Hill Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
